June 5th  - Ch 2 and Ch 3

Intro

"In considering the Master's plan, one cannot help but be struck by its simplicity. It is best described by the phrase "concentration on a few." Its beginning was very unobtrusive as Jesus called a handful of men merely to follow him. One is hardly impressed with the outward qualifications of the small group. They were rather common, to say the least, but they were teachable. And it was on this small group that Jesus concentered his early ministry." - Robert Coleman

May we never forget these words as we look through the association process and the consecration process Robert Coleman outlines in these chapters. Jesus did not neglect the multitudes in order to have a ministry with a few. The vision for the masses was always there, but Jesus was wise enough to see that before the multitudes could be reached permanently, they would need more personal care. Jesus has given us this ministry to continue reaching more and more with the personal love and care he gave the first few.

Jesus primirily accomplished this by having his disciples with him. They first learned by being associated to Jesus and with Jesus. He was building them by being with them. The process for discipleship is not an assembly line where you can do one part and let them go down the line being assembled. You must remain with those select. This is what we often mean by "live life together". We seek to stay with new believers until they are mature enough to lead an other themselves.
